Our May swap will be in Loudon, TN at Bethany Baptist Church. First time hosts Stephen and Robin Rupel invite everyone to join us at this new location. Loudon is located just a little south of Knoxville, TN and the church is only 1 1⁄4 miles off exit 72 on I-75. I really expect a large crowd for this swap, so mark your calendars!
Further in the future, I just heard from Jim Wright with some great news. He will be hosting our August 19 swap at the Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN, off I-24, south of Nashville. I am still searching for a host for Nov. 18, 2017. I‟ve got some tentative “nibbles” but nothing is finalized. Please let me know how those efforts are going and let‟s get that November show lined up and set in stone!
In 2017 there will be lots of opportunities for insulator shows and swap meets. In June the Insulator Collectors of America show will come back for its second year in Washington, Pennsylvania. It is a good lead-in to the summer‟s premier big show, the NIA National, which will take place in Colorado Springs, CO July 21-23. This show will be huge. All sales tables are already sold out and there will be over 40 displays. If you haven‟t booked a hotel room, you better do so soon. My wife Candy and I are planning an extended three week vacation trip out west, with the show sandwiched in between, as we did a couple of years back when the show was in New Mexico. We‟ll get to visit parts of the country we haven‟t explored before. The whole trip is going to be epic. Can you tell I am already very excited?
A quick word about club dues. If you haven‟t paid your dues yet, they were due on January You can‟t have as much fun anywhere else for the cost.
Membership runs from Jan. 1 – Dec. 31 each year. Dues are $5 annually. You can renew your dues by mailing a check or money order payable to Cal Baker, our DJIC Treasurer. His mailing address is: Cal Baker, 230 Carriage Summit Way, Hendersonville, NC 28791. If you have lost track of when your membership expires, you can e-mail him at email@example.com.
I hope everyone has a good 2017, loaded with lots of good fellowship, interesting travels and some great new insulators.
